Easy to Use mp3 Player for Seniors (Audiobook Devices for Elderly)

Easy to Use mp3 Player for Seniors

Tactile feedback is important for buttons too. Some seniors would prefer a button that they can feel a response from when they press it.

This lets them know they have selected the function they wanted.

Touch screens and many other electronic devices today have flat buttons that give no feedback that you actually pressed the buttons. Look for an mp3 player that has this.

Large, Bright, and Clear Screen

Most of the screens on mp3 players are the LCD type which is usually nice and bright. Brighter screens are easier to read as they offer better contrast.

Look for screens with bold, basic fonts or icons.

Screen size is important too, although it will be limited by the size of the device.

Most of the players available now have 2″ screens which are fine for most people, unless they have more severe vision deficits.

Look for an HD screen that will still be clear even on these smaller screens.

Sometimes Thicker, Chunkier mp3 Players Are Best

Electronic devices are getting smaller. They are getting more powerful, but still smaller.

Many people appreciate a smaller device, but seniors who have arthritic or less strong hands may struggle to hold onto a thin, tiny mp3 player.

However, there are still some larger options available.

The thickness of the player is important for seniors. If the player is chunkier, their hands are better able to wrap around them, which means they are more secure and less likely to be dropped.

Another bonus of larger players is that the screens and buttons are often larger as well.

Of course, more active seniors might want a smaller player that they can clip onto their clothing while they exercise.

Easy to Use and Understand Menus and Functions

Think about how much experience the user is with technology. Some devices have complicated, nested menus that the user will have to figure out to get to what they want.

Others use scroll wheels to quickly choose a song. The more simple music players for elderly people allow the user to scroll through songs with buttons.

For more elderly seniors, stay away from players that have too many options like videos, alarms, calendars, etc. Stick to a more basic simple mp3 player.
