Humor Columnist (Boomer Humor Focus)

Suddenly Senior Jobs

About Suddenly Senior

Suddenly Senior has been making America’s older adults laugh, think, and nod along since the early days of the internet. We’re seeking a witty, sharp writer with a flair for observational humor, nostalgia, and cultural commentary that resonates with the Boomer and Gen X crowds.

What You’ll Do

  • Write humorous columns (600–900 words) that explore the absurdities of aging, retirement, technology, family, politics, or “kids these days”
  • Lean into nostalgia—classic TV, music, fashion, and everyday life in decades past
  • Inject your unique voice and perspective while staying senior-friendly and light-hearted
  • Pitch original ideas or accept editorial prompts
  • Contribute at least 1 column per month (more if available)

What We’re Looking For

  • A natural sense of humor and storytelling ability
  • Experience writing humor or satire (published or unpublished)
  • Knowledge of boomer culture, past and present
  • A clean, conversational writing style
  • Ability to take feedback and keep jokes appropriate for a senior audience

Compensation

$100 per column with a byline and exposure to a large senior audience. Bonus if selected for syndication or social campaigns.

How to Apply

Please send us:

  • 1–2 humor writing samples (can be blog posts, essays, or unpublished work)
  • A short paragraph about your favorite decade and why
  • 3 humor column ideas or titles you’d love to write
