Suddenly Senior's Letter of the Month - MARCH 2007 "WAR IS EXPENSIVE. WE CAN’T PULL OUT. FAIRTAX (H.R. 25) SOLVES ALL. " If we were to pull out, we would betray our allies, hand the jihad a tremendous victory, the coalition would dissolve, and the U.S. would be alone in fighting the jihad. Consequently, the fighting would come here. By Pete Malone Get off it, Frank. (See Kaiser’s WAR "EFFORT" NO EFFORT FOR THE REST OF US) We've been spending the country broke our entire lifetimes. Any war is expensive, and a global war, such as WW II or this one, is even more expensive. WW II wasn't fought on a "pay-as-you-go" basis. How do you propose to "withdraw" from a global war? Would you go to the moon? In case you haven't noticed, although the fighting is focused in Iraq (where Iran is prominent in helping the terrorists), fighting in this war is going on all over the world. The only solution to ALL these problems (and many more, including illegal immigration) is the FairTax, H.R. 25. It eliminates more than $1.1 trillion per year in "tax cheating." The National Debt was more like $7 trillion (if you don't account for future obligations, which is really dishonest, but is usually the way the figure is quoted) when "Dubya" took office. There has been nothing like a 65% increase. Aside from that, Social Security and Medicare are the Ponzi schemes. They never HAD an actuarial basis, not that "stealing" from the so-called "Trust Fund" is ethical either. The only solution to ALL these problems (and many more, including illegal immigration) is the FairTax, H.R. 25. It eliminates more than $1.1 trillion per year in "tax cheating" the IRS can't seem to address, it makes "everyone" a taxpayer (so Social Security and Medicare are properly funded), it saves the $265 billion we pay tax consultants and the 6 billion man-hours we devote each year to our tax returns, it eliminates payroll (or SS or pension, etc.) withholding and enables YOU to determine how much tax you pay, through your daily buying decisions. The monthly household "prebate" ends taxation of everyone at or below the Poverty Level, while really wealthy people - for the first time in generations - will pay at the highest rates. The economy will grow at 2 to 3 times recent rates. The trade balance will reverse. You know how the song goes, because you've read it several times before.
